Team Work I enjoy working in teams as it gives me the chance to interact with other members, and gain knowledge and different points of view from them. I have worked as part of a team during both of my work placements, which has allowed me to develop knowledge within the field of IT. The biggest success was while I was working at Sheffield Assay Office, completing the Systems and Network migration from Windows NT4 to Windows Server 2003; lots of careful planning was needed with the other members in my team to make sure it all went smoothly. During my time at HSBC, I worked as part of a team liaising with the other team members to meet the teams targets, which allowed me to develop my team working skills further.
Motivation I am a highly motivated person with excellent self-discipline and organisational skills. These skills have been echoed throughout both of my work placements. I enjoy the challenge of problem solving and once the problem has been solved it gives me great satisfaction. I also enjoy the task of optimising, making things work more effectively and more efficiently, this is something which I apply to everything that I do. I am always highly motivated to implement new technologies which bring new features and enhancements to the work place.
CAREER GOAL My goal is to establish myself within the IT industry in a Network and Systems engineering position, with my ultimate goal of becoming an Active Directory Technical Specialist. I also want to gain a Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) qualification either through work, or during my own time.

WORK EXPERIENCE
DetailACar.co.uk (October 2006 on)
I am the owner of this business, which I set up as a source of part time income. I am dedicated to teaching people how to care for their cars, through the use of several manuals which I have written through my experience of cleaning cars. I also give quotes for work doing, and then go out to the customer to carry out the work. On completion of the work, I make sure the customer is happy and then ask for some feedback, which goes onto the website.
Sheffield Assay Office, Sheffield (July 2006 July 2007)
My position at Sheffield Assay Office was in I.T. Support, although my actual role extended a lot further than the title suggests. While working at Sheffield Assay Office, I performed an Active Directory migration from Windows NT4, along with the necessary preparation which comes with a migration. I also deployed Exchange Server 2003 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus Suite. I also performed upgrades on both computers and servers around the business to make them perform better. While on placement, I spent 4 weeks running the IT department alone.
HSBC Bank Plc, Sheffield (June 2005 September 2005)
My position at HSBC was in the regional Active Directory team. Whilst working there I have gained skills for writing manuals for the installation and configuration of software and of actual physical software installations. I have gained valuable experience in support, due to being first and second line support for the Password Reset Manager roll-out which is currently taking place.
HWGuru.com (March 2001 November 2003)
My position at HWGuru.com was Hardware Reviewer. I received a new piece of hardware from a company and had to put it through its paces and push it to the limits to show how good, or bad the particular piece of hardware was. This was followed by an article which was published on the internet. The articles had to be written in such a way that they were accessible by both technical and non-technical minded people, for this alone I had to develop my writing style to achieve this.
NON-CAREER RELATED EXPERIENCE
- I have created a number of websites, both for myself and for other people. I have used this opportunity to develop my design skills and improve on my HTML and CSS skills. I have my own personal website which contains links to other projects which I have completed; the address is at the top of the CV
- I have recently completed a project on a car engine, which involved stripping a block down, cleaning and modifying the internals, and then rebuilding it with new parts (inc. Bearings, Gaskets etc.)
